Frequently Asked Question

With some simple but straight to the point answers

St. Lucia is an island state in the Caribbean Sea. Located between the French island of Martinque in the north and beautiful island of St Vincent and the Grenadines in the south. Saint Lucia has an area of 238 square miles (616 square kilometers). It is 27 miles (43 kilometer) long on its north-south axis and 14 miles (22 kilometer) at its widest east-west dimension.

St. Lucia is the second largest island in the Lesser Antilles which includes popular destinations like Barbados, Dominica, Antigua, and the US Virgin Islands.

Saint Lucia hurricane season used to be from the start of June through to the end of November, with the peak season being August through October. However, the freak weather being experiences world wide is presently playing with this timeline. The months of September and October have been the more likely time to see major storms. Note thought, that it is rare for St Lucia to be directly hit by a hurricane. If you are part of the yacht community, Marigot Bay is well known to be a hurricane safe zone, an area where the topography shelters boats from harsh winds.

Check weather reports before your travels, and consider travel insurance if you do decide to travel around this time.

Saint Lucia weather is generally warm and comfortable, most of the year round. The weather tends to be warm and breezy with the odd scattered shower in the rainy season. However, the seasons seem to be changing from times past.

The temperatures range between 70-90 °F year round.

But the best time to visit Saint Lucia really depends on what you are looking for. The dry season from December to April offers the most favourable weather conditions. During this period, temperatures range from a comfortable 73-85°F (23-29°C) with low rainfall, making it ideal for beach vacations and outdoor activities.

On the other hand, this is also the busiest and most expensive time to visit, with higher hotel rates and more crowds if that is your kinda thing If not, you can get better deals in the months of March-April or October-November (hurricane season). Even though you might encounter slightly more rain than the other months, it typically comes in brief showers that don’t significantly impact the overall experience. If you are interested in cultural events, Saint Lucia offers several major festivals throughout the year:

  • Jazz & Arts Festival in May
  • Carnival in July
  • Roots & Soul Festival in August
