Saint Lucian’s Now Need ETA for UK Travel

Saint Lucian’s planning to travel to the United Kingdom must now obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before arrival. 

According to the British High Commission, travellers are required to complete the ETA application at least 72 hours prior to arriving at any UK border. This took effect on Wednesday, January 8.

The ETA, which costs £10 (EC$33), is mandatory for individuals who do not require a visa to travel to the UK and plan to stay for six months or less. It is not a visa but allows entry for purposes such as tourism, business, or transit.

In September 2024, the UK government announced the introduction of the ETA for all visa-exempt visitors as part of a broader initiative to digitise its border and immigration system. 

Previously, visa requirements had been imposed on citizens of Dominica, sparking speculation about similar restrictions for Saint Lucian travellers. However, Tourism Minister, Dr Ernest Hilaire, later dismissed these concerns…
