Dr. Nadia Samuel is a highly accomplished Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a distinguished career. She began her academic journey as a St. Lucian Island Scholar in 1990, followed by her medical studies at the University of the West Indies, where she earned her Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine with Honours in Medicine and Therapeutics in 1995. After completing her medical internship, she worked at Victoria Hospital for 18 months before pursuing postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Samuel holds several prestigious certifications, including Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2001, Membership of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP) in 2005, and Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCT) in 2006. She is registered as a specialist in the United Kingdom and holds a Diploma in Family Planning.
Dr. Samuel's expertise lies in managing obstetrical emergencies and deliveries. Her special interest is in abnormal uterine bleeding, particularly in diagnosing and treating menstrual disorders using hysteroscopy. She has numerous scientific publications in this area and spent three years at the Diagnostic Centre of Birmingham Women's Hospital, where she performed various hysteroscopic procedures, including resection of submucous fibroids, removal of polyps, endometrial ablation, and hysteroscopic sterilization. During this time, she also completed special skills modules in advanced hysteroscopic surgery and gynaecological ultrasound scanning.
In 2010, Dr. Samuel successfully introduced hysteroscopy to St. Lucia, marking a significant milestone in the country's medical history. Her extensive experience and expertise have made her a respected figure in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
