Although listed elsewhere on the website, this question came up multiple times in the last few days. So I thought it wise to create a page just to answer this question:
The general currency for the island of St Lucia is – Eastern Caribbean Dollars (EC$ or some times XCD). As the island is now mostly run via tourism, US Currency (USD) is widely accepted in most restaurants, bars and public shopping areas. Not so much in the outskirts.
- Monetary unit: 1 East Caribbean dollar = 100 cents
- EC – US: 1 US = 2.679 East Caribbean dollar
Note. not everyone will work off the 2.679 rate, many may just guesstimate and try and make an extra buck off the exchange rate.
